Leiwo Lotta
Kuvaus
As a Doctoral Researcher with an MA in Folklore Studies, I specialize in settler colonialism, labor history, and environmental narratives within the Finnish North American context of the early 20th century. My research interests span the intersections of women’s history, the cultural history of climate, labor history, historical newspapers, and settler colonialism. I currently work as a salaried doctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki and study within the Doctoral Programme in History and Cultural Heritage. In addition to working on my dissertation, I collaborate as a researcher on the Kone Foundation-funded project "Imagined Homelands: The Finnish-language Press in North America 1876–1923 and the Digital Study of Transnational Culture" (2024-2027).
As part of my salaried position, I lead an archival research course in Cultural Studies for undergraduate students and serve as a lecturer for the MA-level course in memory studies.
