Tunable Radiation Tolerant 2D Terahertz bolometer

Akronyymi

TURANDOT

Rahoitetun hankkeen kuvaus

THz fingerprints of space objects are of a great value as they provide the insights into history of the Universe, formation and evolution of galaxies and their central supermassive black holes, and other fundamental problems of astrophysics. The primary scientific goal of TURANDOT is to combine advantages of graphene and transition metals dichalcogenides monolayers to pave the way towards new generation of THz detectors for space application showing beyond the state-of-the-art KPIs and having unprecedented tunability and remarkable radiation tolerance. Through multidisciplinary approach based upon ER’s expertise in elementary particles, quantum physics and electromagnetics, and the host organization outstanding expertise in material science, nanotechnology and photonics TURANDOT aims at designing a prototype of Tunable Radiation Tolerant 2D Terahertz bolometer, approaching technology readiness level 3 in breakthrough THz space technology. Implementation of this ambitious project will enhance the ER creative and innovative potential and will help to diversify her individual competence in terms of skill acquisition through advanced research and innovations training, and international mobility. Results to be obtained upon completion of the MSCA IF will enable submission of an Advanced European Research Council proposal with ER as a principal investigator and University of Eastern Finland as the host organization.
