Wind data was measured in South Karelia in two locations, Joutseno and Puumala. The measurements were started during the project Development of wind power knowledge and utilization of wind power potential in South Karelia (Tuulivoimaosaamisen kehittäminen ja tuulivoimapotentiaalin hyödyntäminen Etelä-Karjalassa) by LUT University. The measurements were further continued in Puumala by TuuliSaimaa. Joutseno measurements have been performed during 1.11.2009 – 31.10.2010 in a TV tower located in coordinates 61.13100N, 28.54422E. The measurement instruments were mounted on heights 49, 88, and 131 m. Puumala measurements were performed during 1.11.2009 – 31.10.2011 in a GSM mast located in coordinates 61.46111N, 28.37472E. The measurement instruments were mounted on heights 30, 60, and 88 m. Measurement instruments in both places were Thies 2D ultrasonic anemometers. In each height, there were two sensors in order to minimize the tower effect. Temperature was measured using Pentronic Pt100 sensor, and relative humidity using Vaisala HMP45D sensor. All the data is 10 min averages. The data set includes 10 min averages of wind speed, wind direction, air temperature, air pressure, density, and relative humidity. All measurements are divided into separate columns. Description of the data The data set is in CSV file format and size of the data set is 45.2 MB. Time is in format year, month, day, hour, minutes. Zero angle is in north.
