Coherent interaction-free measurements with superconducting quantum circuits
Rahoitetun hankkeen kuvaus
The project entitled "Coherent interaction-free measurements (cIFM) using superconducting quantum circuits" is based on the absorption-free detection of microwave photons. Detection of a single microwave photon has been a challenge due to its extremely low energy. Using the proposed idea, we will be able to have a highly efficient detection of very low flux of microwave photons. The experiments will be performed using dilution refrigerator at a temperature of approximately 10 mK in the state-of-art low temperature lab of Aalto University, Finland. This project is much desired and timely with a wide range of applications- from the cutting-edge quantum technologies in building quantum computers to counterfactual communication and detect the communication channel breaches. This project also has the potential to revolutionize our understanding about the Universe, by capturing the signatures of a hypothetical elementary particle 'axion', which is postulated as a constituent of dark matter.
